Today I have a heartwarming project for a heartwarming day. It’s a printable Mother’s Day craft for Kids, which also makes an adorable DIY Mother’s Day card. I title it: Jump to Mommy Over the Rainbow!
This printable craft for Mother’s Day features a little bear jumping into his mama’s hug, along a colorful rainbow of love. The craft includes mechanism that makes the bear move and fly through the air.
Some engineering went into designing this paper craft, but don’t worry, I’ve implemented all the calculations into a printable template, so it’s easy-peasy for kids to make. All there’s left to do is print out the template, color, cut, and enjoy a fun craft time that will make Mother’s Day full of smiles.
And as I mentioned, this craft is also a sweet DIY Mother’s Day card. It is shaped like a heart, and it has the texts “Love you Mommy” and “Happy Mother’s Day!” So cute, and so lovely to give to Mom on her special day.

Make your Mother’s Day Craft and DIY Card
Here’s what you’ll need:
- This free printable template
- White cardstock that you can print on*
- Coloring tools
- Scissors
- Glue
- Hole punch
- Split pins
* If you don’t have cardstock for printers, use normal paper and glue the printed page onto cardstock, to make it sturdy.
Let’s get crafting!
1. Print out the template on white cardstock (or on regular paper, and then glue the page to cardstock).
2. Color the parts. For the heart’s back, only color the central arch. It is a piece of the rainbow which will be visible through the slit in the heart’s front, so match the color with the coordinate rainbow part on the heart’s front.
3. Cut out all template parts. To strengthen the stick, glue it to 2-3 layers of cardstock for thickness.
4. Cut out the area filled with grey dots on the rainbow.
5. Fold the Mother Bear’s arm flap inwards along the dashed line, and glue the flap to its designated spot on the Mother Bear.
6. Apply glue to the ‘GLUE’ areas on the margins of the heart’s back (note that the bottom part of the heart remains glue-free). Attach the heart’s front to its back, aligning the edges.
7. Punch holes with a hole punch (or another tool) where indicated by black dots: on the little bear’s hat, both ends of the stick, and the bottom of the heart (punch through both layers).
8. Secure the little bear to the stick’s top using a split pin, ensuring he moves freely.
9. Slide the stick through the rainbow’s slit, positioning it between the heart layers with the bear hanging outside.
10. Align the stick’s bottom hole with the heart holes and insert the final split pin. Now, moving the stick will make the bear jump along the rainbow to Mom!
12. Glue the decorative flowers to the heart for a final artistic touch.
