St. Patrick’s Day is coming, and I have a great leprechaun craft idea for you: a DIY leprechaun finger puppet from felt. It’s fun and easy to make, especially with my free printable template. So unplug your kids from their devices and let’s craft together!
Cute leprechaun craft: finger puppet for St. Patrick’s day
You’ll need:
- This leprechaun finger puppet template
- Felt in different colors (Amazon affiliate link)
- Glue for felt, like Aleene’s Tacky Glue (Amazon affiliate link).
School glue or Mod Pod won’t work for felt. - Scissors
- Thread and needle (you can also use glue, for a no-sew version)
- Pen / fine marker
Steps:
1. Print the template and cut out the pieces.
2. Trace the pieces onto the felt and cut out the parts.
3. Glue the felt hands of the leprechaun to the sleeves of one body part.
4. Place the second body part over the hands and sew the two body parts together (you can also use glue for a no-sew finger puppet). Make sure you leave the bottom open.
5. Glue the shirt and lapel pieces to the body.
6. Glue the hair to the face, then glue the face to the body and the hat to the top of the head.
7. Add some details: a brown stripe with a yellow buckle to the hat, black felt buttons and a pink nose. Lastly, draw the eyes and mouth with a pen / fine marker.
And that’s it, you made your own DIY leprechaun finger puppet! How was that for a leprechaun craft idea? If you liked it, Pin it to Pinterest so others can find it too.
