Crafting Your Pumpkin Patch: Step-by-Step

What you’ll need*:

Steps:

1. Print the free template (available for newsletter subscribers – grab it through the sign up box below). The template includes all the pieces you’ll need: a scarecrow, pumpkins, a fence, birds, and a customizable sign.

2. Color the Pieces. I used alcohol-based markers because they color so smoothly and they are very enjoyable to use. Note that you don’t have to color the strips that are attached to each piece, because these strips will not be visible.

3. Cut out the pieces along the solid lines. Be sure to include the attached strips, as these will form the mounts to make each piece stand upright.

4. Assemble the Scarecrow: Fold the scarecrow’s strip along the dashed lines, folding backward so that the dashed lines remain visible on the outside of the folds.

5. Add glue to the tab marked “GLUE TAB”.

6. Place the scarecrow upright on the ground. Then, glue the tab to the back of the scarecrow so that the strip forms a triangle-shaped mount. This mount will help keep the scarecrow standing upright.

7. Next, assemble the Pumpkins the same way you assembled the scarecrow: Fold each pumpkin along the dashed lines, and glue the tabs to their backs.

9. Assemble the sign as you did with the scarecrow and the pumpkins: Fold its strip along the dashed lines, and glue the tab to the sign’s back.

10. Assemble the fence: Fold the strips of the fence along the dashed lines, as you did with the other pieces. Stand the fence upright on the ground and glue both tabs at the same height to keep the fence straight.
