Santa’s Wish Sled is a printable Christmas craft that kids of all ages will enjoy. It’s a complete kit for making Santa Claus, his reindeer, a sled, three present boxes, and decorated Christmas Wish notes to fill in!

The printable template comes in two versions: a pre-colored version and a black-and-white version for coloring. Choose to build a colorful Santa and reindeer straight from the printer or personalize your own with a 3D coloring page.

A Christmas Craft That Makes You Look Inside

This year we take our holiday crafting to a new level! With the Santa’s Wish Sled printable craft, kids can create their own 3D model of Santa Claus and his reindeer, while expressing their own personal wishful thoughts.

After writing their wishes on the decorated notes, they can fold and tuck them into the present boxes. Each box will hold a precious child’s wish, and Santa will carry them on his sled.

Not only is this Santa craft a great way to keep kids entertained, but it also invites them to think about their Christmas wishes, adding a reflective element to the activity. As parents, you get a chance to learn more about what your children are wishing for this holiday season.

How to Make Santa’s Wish Sled

The downloadable files for the Santa’s Wish Sled Christmas craft include both versions of the template (colored and black-and-white) along with a detailed instruction sheet. Here’s a simplified version of the steps to give you a glimpse of the activity:

Step 1: Make the Reindeer

1. Gather the reindeer parts: body (2 pieces), horns (2 pieces), ears (2 pieces), and legs (4 pieces).

2. Glue each matching pair of reindeer parts back-to-back with the illustrated sides facing outward. Leave the ears unglued for now.

3. Cut slits along the solid lines on the belly, head, horns, and legs. Slide the legs through the slits in the belly and the horns through the slit in the head.

4. Fold the ears along the dashed lines and glue only the back flaps to the sides of the head.

 

Step 2: Make the Sled

1. Fold all sled parts along the dashed lines.

2. Glue each sled wall to the base’s glue tabs, aligning the bottom edges.

3. Attach the blades to the bottom of the sled with the colored parts facing outward.

4. Glue the shelf to the rear end of the sled’s base using the glue tabs.

 

Step 3: Make Santa Claus

1. Glue the front and back parts of Santa together with illustrated sides outward.

2. Fold Santa’s arms, waist, and feet along the dashed lines so they bend forward.

3. Position Santa on the sled’s base in a seated pose and glue him down.

4. Attach the reins: glue the star end of one rein to the reindeer’s neck and the other end to the inside of Santa’s hand. Repeat for the other side.

Step 3: Prepare the Wish Boxes

1. Fold the three present boxes along the dashed lines and glue their tabs to close them.

2. Write your Christmas wishes on the decorated notes.

3. Fold the notes and put them in the present boxes.

4. Place the boxes on the shelf of Santa’s sled.
